@gcvsa@mstdn.plusI am far less concerned, as a practical matter, over whether or not my ISP is #spying on my data or whether or not I need to use a #VPN, than whether or not #computer OS and hardware manufacturers and browser software are providing unique device identifiers to websites and applications that can be used to track me even if I completely wipe the device, change location and IP address, delete my accounts, and start over. #security #privacy #tracking #fingerprinting
At no time should a unique device identifier ever be permitted to be read or transmitted to a third party without explicit consent or a court order or search warrant.
@gcvsa they are and they do...I see the detailed information on my browser, hardware, software, versions of OS, and my location regardless of using an ISP - they know my machine is me.
