My husband constantly refers to aluminum foil as tin foil and it's one of the elements of our relationship that periodically makes me want to divorce him.
@Alice well, I use both terms. Does that make me bifoil?
Also, we don't say aluminum foil hat, unless you use the British pronunciation of aluminum, then it's okay. 
@kimlockhartga It makes sense that the kind of people who wear those hats call them "tin" foil hats because they don’t know anything about science.
@Alice @kimlockhartga My theory is that tin foil hats actually work and that's why the government got rid of tin foil and replace it with aluminum foil.
